Francisco CORZAS
Born: 1936, Mexico. Dead, 1983, Mexico. Was a Mexican painter and engraver who was part of what is called "Generation of the Rupture".
Education: Between 1951-55 he studied at the La Esmeralda Painting and Sculpture Academy; and then in Italy, starting his artistic career in Europe.
Experience: After gaining success by winning the silver medal at the Via Margutta International Art Fair in 1960, Corzas triumphantly returned to Mexico. The Antonio Souza Gallery made its first exhibition upon its return from Europe.
Shows: In life he had 14 individual exhibitions and participated in 43 collective exhibitions around the world. While in Mexico he exhibited in different galleries and for 1972 his recognition earned him a retrospective exhibition in Fine Arts and in 1976 an individual exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. He was also a member of the Salon de la Plastica Mexicana.
Collection: His work is part of museums and private collections in Europe - as in the Vatican collection - and in Mexico and notable galleries such as Juan Martín and Misrachi.
BIOGRAFÍA
Nacido en 1936 y fallecido en 1983 Francisco Corzas fue un pintor y grabador mexicano que formó parte de lo que se denomina “Generación de la Ruptura”.
Entre 1951-55 estudió en la Academia de Pintura y Escultura La Esmeralda; y luego en Italia, iniciando su carrera artística en Europa.
Después de obtener el éxito al ganar la medalla de plata en la Feria Internacional de Arte Via Margutta en 1960, Corzas regresó triunfante a México.
La Galería Antonio Souza realizó su primera exposición a su regreso de Europa.
En vida tuvo 14 exposiciones individuales y participó en 43 colectivas alrededor del mundo. Estando en México expuso en diferentes galerías y para 1972 su reconocimiento le valió una exposición retrospectiva en Bellas Artes y en 1976 una exposición individual en el Museo de Arte Moderno. Tambien fue miembro del Salón de la Plástica Mexicana.
Su obra forma parte de museos y colecciones privadas en Europa –como en la colección del Vaticano- y en México y galerías notables como Juan Martín y Misrachi.
